Every now and then I am open to testing out products that are suitable and beneficial for our home, so am very happy to review the briiv Pro 2 Air Filter, having done so also for the original briiv a few years back, with very positive things to say.
At first glance, there is one obvious additional aesthetic with the base of the model having scalloped grooves but overall it has the same terrarium look, inspired by nature. I love the tactile design – and how it easily fits in to it’s surroundings without looking technical at all. This is before we even look in to all of the health benefits the briiv 2 Pro offers, which I will go in to once we I have shown you all the elements.
Disclosure: This is a collaborative post with briiv although I have not received any payment.
The Briiv 2 Pro comes in a biodegradable, recyclable box and inside is the glass dome with base including one nano filter, made with medical grade materials, already in place – plus three spare. Each one lasts around three months, depending on how often the briiv is used. You will also find the coconut coir filter and there is also Yorkshire moss in a natural hemp bag ready to add which both last around twelve months if you are using regularly. It also includes the plug, USB cable and cleaning sticks. So you’re all set.
With the briiv 2 Pro, I am thrilled that there is a diffuser stick that sits inside the body of the filter where you can add drops of your favourite ( good quality ) essential oils which means you’ll not only have clean air but will also give the room a lovely natural aroma. It is a step up as far as I am concerned and made me very happy when I discovered it. It feels like they have created the perfect air filter and given it much thought.
There are four stages of filtering. First the room air enters the via the moss which filters pet dander, pollen and allergens. Next the coconut coir catches dust and dirt before the air moves to the nano filters and activated carbon where remove harmful toxins are removed. The nice clean air then is released at the bottom of the unit.
As well as removing harmful VOC’s, it neutralises odours so is very useful for the kitchen with cooking smells or homes with pets for instance. I have found my original briiv very good with this so I have every faith the Pro 2 will be do the same. The cost to run the purifier is 0.02 pence per six hours so there is no issue with pumping up electricity bills.
It is AI powered for air monitoring. You can see here just how effective the filter is, when tested with a smoke pellet in a closed container. It takes little time to completely clean the air. In 21 minutes it can clean a 4m x 4m space, so if your room is larger, you could use two units, which brings me to discuss the app.
Although you can control the briiv 2 Pro manually with intuitive touch control, the app was very easy to set up with connecting to the wifi and I found much more efficient and advanced than a few years ago with my first briiv. In fact, I find the app the best way to control the unit. You can decide the strength of the filter while being able to schedule when you would like it to come on and stop. It’ll keep a close eye on your filter layers, telling you when they need replacing and what I find really clever is the graph to show you VOC’s the filter discovers and how well it is filtering them. You can add multiple units to the app and control all at the same time to create harmoniously clean air.
The briiv filters are made in the Uk, and only four years ago were a kickstarter company, so have come a long way in a short time which I feel says a lot about their products. Although I have been sent this briiv 2 Pro to review, I am under no obligation to say nice things, but am genuinely very impressed by what I have seen and experienced with it. It works very well in my home as I am very in to biophilic design, but I feel it would blend well in most homes, as well as it’s obvious health benefits. For every unit sold, a tree is planted, so I can’t really find a fault with this brand.
