Purples are associated with spirituality and mindfulness and actually this particular shade immediately reminded me of the legend that is Prince. Oh, I miss him.
Last year Greenery was definitely a slow burner according to my Twitter feed. Although I noticed it literally sprung in to life in the interior world further into the Spring. Maybe this will be the case this time too.
I love purple so am once again really happy with the vibrancy of Ultra Violet because it’s fresh and rich but can totally see how it’s strength of colour might be a bit much for some. It’s certainly no shrinking violet. Excuse the terrible joke. Colour is such a personal thing it would be impossible to please everyone.
But I do think trends are fun. They might inspire us to try out a new paint or textile and gets people talking about design.
I’ve made up a little mood board showing how I would use Ultra Violet in a palette for a living room. In fact, I’ve used very little of it overall because of its intensity but made sure the centre piece being the sofa, shouts the loudest. Using blues and golds with it makes it a lively combination and I’ve added some extra pops of purple around the room. I like the contrast with the bluey grey paint which is called Pale Wedgwood and made by Little Greene. It stands in the background like Ultra Violet’s more sensible friend. We all need one of those.
To give the room a serene feeling you could add more blues, lilacs and remove the pops of yellows and orange.

If you’ve now got a thirst on for more of the purple stuff I have found some more accent pieces for the home here. What do you think of the rug ? It’s so bold. The Roberts Radio is adorable and I am such a fan of Love Frankie who make colourful lampshades. We have pink and leopard print ones here at home.
I’d love to know your thoughts on this colour. Are you loving it ? Loathing it ? Or somewhere in between ? What would be your chosen colour for 2018 ?
