Summer Scents for a Natural Home

Summer Scents for a Natural Home

by lucylovesya | Jul 30, 2026 | Design Interiors, DIY/Projects, Lifestyle, News

Choosing summer scents for a natural home is one of my favourite ways to define the change of seasons. As a biophilic interior designer, and the daughter of an aromatherapist, I’ve always been aware not only of how a home looks and feels, but also of its aroma....

The Most Overlooked Principle of Biophilic Design

by lucylovesya | Jul 8, 2026 | Design Interiors, Lifestyle, News

When we think of biophilic design, we often picture homes filled with plants, natural materials and earthy colour palettes. While these elements all clearly help strengthen our connection with nature, there is another important aspect of biophilic design and something...

Photorealistic concept visual by Lucy Gleeson Interiors Hospitals are not usually calming places due to their busy nature. They are often bright, clinical, and functional spaces that can be overwhelming. In an ideal world they would be much more restful. Recently, I’ve...
Easy Living Room Update with Flowers

Easy Living Room Update with Flowers

by lucylovesya | Mar 30, 2026 | Design Interiors, DIY/Projects, News

This was a really simple living room update with flowers, but it made such a difference to how the space feels. Sometimes all a room needs is a small shift to make it feel fresh again, and this time it came down to something really simple: a bunch of pretty flowers....

NEW BLOG POST - AROMAS 💕😍 Hope you are getting th NEW BLOG POST - AROMAS 💕😍

Hope you are getting through this latest heatwave? ☀️
I love Summer but this level of humidity is a challenge for me.

Anyway, I always love to have a nice scent at hand in our home every season, and as the daughter of an aromatherapist 🌱, grew up with gorgeous concoctions of fragrances lingering in our home. I have suggested some blends and why they are great for the summer. Hope you enjoy it. Link in bio x

Thank you to my daughter Mae for her lovely illustrations here and in the blog post. 🎨🖌️

I’ve also featured my fab @briiv.natural Pro 2 Air Filter that I have talked about before (past collaboration), because you can add essential oils to compliment the clean air it produces. (Fyi - they have a 50% off sale on refurbished Filters at the moment 👏💕😍).

How are you today? I thought I would write a post How are you today? I thought I would write a post to let you know more about my work if you are new to following me - and thank you. 🙏🏼

I am Lucy, an interior designer (qualified with KLC School of Design) and have a strong interest in biophilic design ie bringing the out-door in (using natural elements where possible and if desired). I am really passionate about this and the well-being it can bring to peoples’ lives. Also, I’m a Colour Therapist which ties in very nicely with the impact of colour in our homes and our lives generally. You might have noticed I have a design Podcast too - and will soon be doing some more episodes. 🎙️💕

Blogging wise, I started waaaay back when it was a new thing and have been doing it ever since, and was lucky to enough to win a prestigious award for my 🌈 colourful interior inspiration. Actually I started blogging as I also was making things including blinds and curtains (and my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses!) but it soon evolved to interior designing. ✂️🧵

Before this I worked in theatre, and television in front of and behind the camera on lots of programmes since I was pretty young and loved the experiences it brought me - my first part was a boy (with a pudding bowl haircut in Miss Marple for the BBC. No point hiding it as it is shown on tv still… arghh haha. Working on these shows was so valuable to learn about the psychology of people and set design. I am quite a shy person really but the industry helped me come out of my shell. 🎬📽️

My other passion is rescue doggies and I volunteer for a charity rehoming labradors. You may have seen I now have 2 Italian street dogs here at home who have been a challenge but I have also learned a lot from them. 🐾😍

Thanks again for following me. I will be updating more often with tutorials and interior posts so keep an eye out. 👋🏻🏠

What is the most over looked principle of biophili What is the most over looked principle of biophilic design? In fact, this question extends to interior design full stop. I’ve put together a blog post if you’d like to know more about this and also my colour therapy too.

If only such strong shadows were created all year round. I love the summer for this (not so much the flies 🪰)

The gorgeous lamp is from a past collaboration with @tomraffield 💕

Having spent a fair amount of time in hospitals recently with loved ones, I felt kind of compelled to put together a blog post about some of the big benefits of biophilc design in healthcare - you can find it in my bio above.
Also as you can see I put together a palette and a design example of how it could look. Obviously NHS is stretched for cash but food for thought moving forwards.
Do have a read if you’d like and here is to a cooler day. I’ve been melting 🥵😃💕🌱

Why paint interior doors? 🚪🧹 💕 Sometimes just giv Why paint interior doors? 🚪🧹 💕

Sometimes just giving the door a lick of paint is all you need to achieve impact or create a feature. It also can add an affordable accent, and without overwhelming the space if you’re not a keen colour drencher!

I still love this shade of pink. What colour would you go for?

Ad. Some time ago I watched @tomraffield build his Ad. Some time ago I watched @tomraffield build his own house on Grand Designs which is still one of my all time favourite episodes. 🏠
Not long before I had visited a factory that steam bent wood to make furniture and I’d become a bit obsessed with the beauty of this craft, so to see Tom use this skill with his own interiors company was very exciting. 🙌🏻
Roll on a while since and I’ve interviewed Tom on my Live Your Own Way design podcast (lovely and interesting man I might add) and now I finally have one of his beautiful designs in my home.
This is the Skipper Small Floor Light and the detail is amazing. Made with sustainability sourced oak, birch plywood and brass. Finished with eco friendly natural wax oils. 🪾💡💕

Just the right height for reading here. I also like it in the snug here at home so you’ll probably see it somewhere else soon.

Ps - anyone else feeling a bit Spring like? I swear I saw blue skies yesterday 🙏🏻

Which is your favourite way to decorate? 1. Colou Which is your favourite way to decorate?

1. Colour on the walls, but elements kept neutral 🩵🤍
2. Colour drench - not just painting the wall, but doors and skirting too 🩵
3. Neutral overall. With pops of colour? 🤍

This is a recent design on one area of a room. When I work with online clients I don’t always get to see the end result so photo real is very satisfying!

I don’t even know where to begin with this post ab I don’t even know where to begin with this post about our amazing boy Sandy.
We had say to farewell well at the weekend and the pain is indescribable, like I’ve been punched in the tummy.
But the love is still HUGE and always will be.
He came in to our lives when he was two and a half and settled in quickly with our then young girls, bringing a beautiful energy to our family.
He was a sensitive soul with the kindest eyes and never strayed far from our sides.
Absolutely hilarious, cheeky, always aware if anyone needed a cuddle and just an abundance of all that is good in the world.
As he popped up in my feed at times, I thought I’d share his passing and let you know just what an epic boy he was. At some point, it’ll all make sense and we will be able to enjoy all the incredible memories ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for all your kindness on my Stories. 🦮
