Fancy a little browse around our updated spare bedroom to find out why we chose wooden flooring for our guest room ?
Not so long ago I showed you our main bedroom with the built in wardrobe that I designed. Well, we decided to strike while the iron was hot and get the guest room completed too.
I’m almost too embarrassed to show you this room before we did it up. Ugh. It was so drab and had been neglected a little to be honest. The carpet hadn’t been changed since we moved in and it just had zero character which is something I tend to bang on about here … adding character !
So, the obvious choice as we were so pleased with the main room and wanted continuity was to add the same engineered wooden floor, which is by Quick-Step who also do vinyl and laminate flooring can see in the before and after how much changing to floorboards lifts the room without it even being finished.
On our checklist it had to be durable, aesthetically pleasing and sympathetic to the style of our home was an important factor for both rooms I spent time looking through some of their samples and felt really confident by the time we had made our decision that it was perfect for us.
A fitter who I found on the Quick-Step website installed the flooring last time and did it again this time and it took less than a day to remove carpet and skirting board then put in the underlay, put in the floorboards and replace the skirting boards so it was really convenient as well. No hanging around – job done.
I am really chuffed with the room and it’s light and airy feel. It’s so much more homely and welcoming now. I love too that the wooden floor is very easy to keep clean and it’s more hygienic than carpet too. Much easier all round. The floorboards also don’t creek like you might expect with wood.
This post is a tad picture heavy but couldn’t stop snapping it and I wanted you to see if from many angles as possible. I also painted the chest of drawers a Farrow & Ball colour – Parma Gray . What do you think ?
Hope you’ve enjoyed a peek at our new room ? I can’t wait to have guests over to stay.
Do leave me a comment under this post with your thoughts or just to say hi !

This is a collaboration with Quick-Step. All opinions as always are my own.

Can I be your guest please?! Lovely pops of colour too. Love wooden floors – my hubbie is Danish so he thinks carpets are v strange!
Ha! I will book you in. Thank you very much. I do love the Scandi look so am pleased you like it too X
The floor makes an amazing difference. I love it. We have the most horrendous carpet in our bedrooms and I’d really like to do something similar one day.
I’d definitely recommend this flooring, Rachel. I know what you mean – it takes ages to get around to sorting these things!
Oh it looks lovely! The flooring makes such a difference – your guests are very very lucky! We desperately need to do our flooring in our own bedroom. We still have the mucky carpet we moved in with and I hate it with a passion – this looks like a really nice option x
Aw thanks, Kimberly. Glad you like it. My Mum is desperate to stay now :)
It is a great option and so easy to have installed. Thanks for reading X
It looks lovely. Very welcoming. In fact I’m packing my bag as I write this.
Ha! I look forward to seeing you :)
I do wishing my guest bedroom looked this good. It’s a great size too. I’m a big fan of this type of floor especially in a bedroom actually. Gorgeous!
Thank you. That’s very kind. I think so too for a bedroom. Low maintenance!
ohhh I love it ! Can’t beat clean, wooden floors. We waited six years until we could afford carpet upstairs and now I hate them ! I want them ripped out of the bedrooms and engineered wood put down.
Love your photography x
P.S. I have the same sandals !!! xxx
Thank you, karen! It’s funny isn’t it … carpet is great in some circumstances but wood always works! The sandals are so comfy aren’t they? X
It looks stunning – you must be so pleased! When can I stay?! x
You are welcome anytime, Natasha!! Thank you X
It’s amazing what a difference new flooring can make. I desperately need new flooring in our livingroom as the girls have trashed our carpet through baby-led weaning. It’s really gross. I’ve been looking at Quickstep actually as it seems like such a good option. It’s also really helpful that they have a list of recommended installers on their website. Your guest room looks fantastic…from every angle lol!
Wow Lucy your new look guest room looks super stylish. The floor looks so welcoming and warm . My fave however is your choice of colour palettes! You have a fabulous eye for colour!
