A clutter-free entrance can make a real difference to how a home looks and feels. I think the entrance to our homes is an interesting and important space to consider when it comes to interior design. It’s often somewhere we focus on making practical, but it can also play a part in how we feel when we arrive home or leave.
Making the Most of the area
This built-in bench is a great example of combining practicality with style. There’s somewhere to sit and take off your shoes, with storage underneath and a shelf above for plants and decorative pieces.
If you’d like to see how the space looked before, I’ve shared the before pictures over on Instagram. It’s always interesting to see the transformation and how a few considered design choices can change the feel of a room. As they say, a plumbers tap always drips and it had been neglected for a while – but not anymore.
I love the combination of sage green, warm timber, patterned cushions and colourful artwork. The different elements work together to create a space that feels practical and personal.

Bringing Nature Indoors
The green tones, trailing plants and natural wood bring a connection to the outdoors, adding texture and warmth.
Biophilic design goes beyond houseplants. It considers how we can incorporate nature-inspired colours, natural materials, textures and daylight into our interiors. As I have mentioned before, the research suggests that connecting with nature can support well-being, making it a consideration when designing the spaces we use every day.

I think it is important to stress that nature-inspired interiors don’t have to be neutral or minimalist; colour and personality have their place too. It is just finding exactly what works for you – and an entrance doesn’t need to be large or elaborate to work well.

While our homes will never be perfectly tidy all the time, creating a space that feels welcoming and works for everyday life can make coming home that little bit more enjoyable.
After all, the spaces we live in are about more than just aesthetics. They’re part of our everyday experience, and I think that’s what makes thoughtful design so interesting and worthwhile.
