Where is the time going this year ? It feels like the seasons are flying by. It’s my favourite time to record podcasts so have just chatted with Melanie Lissack Interiors about her life as a home DIY enthusiast ( I would actually say ‘ expert ‘ personally ), stylist and writer.
If you are an interiors lover then you will probably already have seen Melanie’s excellent hacks. As I mention, her IKEA ones are some if my favourites and especially this sideboard she worked on recently. It is completely unrecognisable from its original form. She has such a good eye for detail and cohesion. Where does her knack for DIY originate from and what will she be working on next ?
My main aim as always is to discover the person behind the brand or online persona but Melanie is very always much herself anyway which leads to us talking about what is important as a digital creative when it comes to living life online.
Her beautiful London Georgian home has featured in many magazines since she started out in 2016 after a career in the music industry with Universal and EMI before turning her hand to content creation with success pretty quickly and awards to follow. I wanted to know what she will be making over in the house soon and whether it’s her forever home.
As the blogging world is ever evolving its always good to chat about where we are at with social media generally in 2022. What is the future of having our own personal platforms as opposed to micro blogging on tik tok or instagram for instance and whether writing a posts regularly on our websites is still as important as it was say, five years ago. What are people looking for when it comes to design advice and inspiration.
Obviously though you’ll need to listen to our chat to hear our thoughts and you’ll also find some super advice from Melanie on ways to keep your costs down on DIY projects and it was also good to find out which are her favourite wall paints, being a complete decorating obsessive myself.
One of Melanie’s many talents is working with flowers and I especially love her beautiful and lush door scapes so it wanted to ask about these and whether she sees her home in the calm and biophilic way that it appears to me. Sometimes she even gets up at 4am to visit flower markets and that takes some commitment. So naturally I ask which are her favourite seasons and florals to style.
You’ll always find interesting and useful updates on trends on Melanie’s website.
I hope you enjoy the podcast and do subscribe on for more as they are in the can and will be available shortly. Listen to my other chats here .
