How About These Valentine’s Day Treats in the Post ?

If there is one place we like to visit as a family when we are in Noting Hill then it’s Biscuiteers. We like to support small businesses , especially ones that make sweet treats – yes I know I’m being virtuous at the moment but one or two can’t hurt can they ?

Anyway, I was pretty overjoyed to receive some mutual love in the form of a personalised Valentine’s Tin as a gift from the lovely people at Biscuiteers, full of treats from their personalised Love Letter Collection.

You’d have to have a steady hand to ice a name that well wouldn’t you ?

Obviously the girls and Andy were pretty chuffed too so I’m not sure they will last too long but that one literally has my name on it ! It’s mine.

Here is the whole selection from the tin. So cute ? You can find out more about ordering gifts on their website. I really love their cupcakes and they also do hampers and gifts for him, her and kids.

  1.  Heart Card – Studio Sarah London 2. Postbox Flowers – Bloom & Wild 3. Roses Candle Diptyque 4. Molecule Spritz – Liberty London 5. Heart Dishes  – Oliver Bonas 6. Love Print  – Showler and Showler

Here are a few more ideas here too on some ideas if you want to order something to surprise your Spouse / partner / BFF on the day or just treat yourself ( and why not ? ) with something special in the post. Or if you are reading this on the morning of the 13th and realise you’ve forgotten that .. it’s tomorrow ! Fear not.

I wear Molecule perfume and it’s unisex so suitable for anyone if they like earthy scents. It smells different on everyone as it enhances natural pheromones. Of course these things are all my taste but the shops here stock lots of different things. Hopefully this helps if you’re still on the look out :)

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day. I’m off to eat a Biscuiteers love letter before someone else does !

Do leave me a comment under this post if you have any mother ideas or just to say hi … always good to hear from you.

Why Yoga and Meditation is my Inspiration for 2017

self help books yoga meditation relaxation ideas inspiration

Hey, Happy 2017. Hope you are having a good start to the New Year. I’m easing myself in to it and so far, so good ..

But for some time I have been wondering whether to share a little bit more about me on the blog. I tend to keep it as a positive place and always will … although one thing I found last year, which I want to talk about is that I struggled a bit to keep up with the mad pace of social media. Usually it wouldn’t be an issue but truth be told, I haven’t been too well.

Over the last few years I have had a condition where if I get overworked or tired, my throat and eyes gets very sore and and I end up with a very swollen and raw mouth. At first I thought it was something I had eaten, like an allergy reaction, but then realised a pattern to it. The last few months have not been so great. It has done something a little odd to my immune system so I really do lack energy sometimes. Is it just me or do you know anyone else that this happens to ?

I’ve tried lots of different ways to treat it but I don’t think anything works completely unless you start looking after yourself and your body really well. Pressures of life can take their toll, especially when you are juggling many plates.

This is where my new hobby comes in …

Colourful yoga mat relaxation meditation inspiration

Yoga.

Something that I have wanted to try for what seems years. I have meditated before and found it really effective, so combined, hopefully it will make headway – and it will be interesting to see if it has any impact. I hope so, as this is the year that I will qualify in interior design and really can’t wait.

I had to find a mat that would inspire me. What do you think ?

inspiration meditation ideas colourful mat colorful
  1. Constellations mat – Blisscloud 2. Yoga belts – Yoga matters 3. Colourful mat – Yoga Design Lab 4. Blankets – Yoga Direct 5. Pink mat – Shake it London 6.Tropical mat – Yoga clicks 7. Bolsters – The Yoga Shop 8. Green mat – Liforme

Because, of course, my mat had to be colourful – I now know many online stores, found in my search .. You can see it here in my selection of finds, at number 3. I also think the Constellations Mat at number 1 is pretty amazing.

If yoga is something that you would like to try then maybe some of these finds will inspire you too.

From mats, belts and bolsters, there are so many out there. If you’d like to see where any of the above are from then you can click on the links.

I was also sent two great books called Spark Joy by Maria Kondo and At Home in The World by Thich Nhat Hanh. Thank you Penguin Random House for posting them over.

Spark joy is essentially is a guide to decluttering your home, covering each room and ways to make more space and remove anything that doesn’t bring you joy. Sounds like common sense but actually it can be quite hard to let go of old pieces sometimes, even if they aren’t purposeful.

At Home in the World is an autobiographical read, by Nhat Hanh’s life and how he has taught Zen and Mindfulness throughout his life, while travelling the world. It is quite fascinating.

This year, I also aim to eat well and try some new styles of cooking. I’d love to do more Thai food.

I hope you have a great 2017. I’m really looking forward to sharing lots of inspiring posts with you.

If you have any yoga tips or would just like to stop by to say hi then do leave me a comment underneath. Would love to hear from you.

Colourful Christmas WishList for 2016

new-1
  1. Make Believe Jumper – Oliver Bonas. 2. Body Cleansing Bath Salts  – ila. 3. Cactus Socks – Maik London. 4. Cat Bracelet – Conran Shop.5. Fairisle Hat – Quinton Chadwick. 6. Gold Planner – Kikki – K. 7 . Clutch Bag – Matt & Nat. 8. Hairbands – Pop Band London.

If you can’t make a little Wishlist at  Christmas time, when can you ? Some personal treats and then some things that will brighten the home.

Maybe you will see some things here that will be helpful as a guide too. A lot of the items are from brands that I already know and love.

We all need a Christmas jumper don’t we ? I’m kind of leaning towards a more subtle kind this year and love the slogan ones, like this sweater from Oliver Bonas.

I first tried ila products ( 2 ) when I was in Cornwall earlier in the year. They smell amazing – I haven’t tried the cleansing bath salts here though. Probably just what is needed in the run up to the festive period.

I’m a fan of British knitwear brand Quinton Chadwick and love the colours in this fairisle bobble hat ( 5 ). What do you think ?

Do you ever use a planner ? I still do as well as my phone diary and love a bit of bling .. as you may have noticed. So, naturally this diary from Kikki – K caught my eye  -they have the most adorable stationery. My girls love the shop and just might be getting some of their pens from Father Christmas.

Matt & Nat make an amazing selection of bags. They’re all vegan and eco friendly. The Odelay clutch here has a strap so really suitable for an informal drinks do or a night out. I never used to wear anything dark blue but it has really grown on me and love it now.

I’ll be honest – PopBands ( 8 ) are all over this house  – we wear them all the time but you can never have enough of them. They are great as stretchy bracelets also. They have taken off massively and I see them in shops everywhere. Great stocking filler.

new-2
  1. Candle  – Etta French. 2. Pineapple Beaded Cushion – Laura Ashley. 3. Mini Terrarium – Urban Outfitters. 4.Flamingo Snow Globe – John Lewis. 5. Tea Set – Burleigh Pottery. 6.
Liberty Print Roberts Radio – Liberty London. 7. Scissors – Nest. 8. Brush Cup – Pentreath & Hall.

Recently I tried out on of these Etta French candles ( 1 ). The winter scent fills the room but not only that you get a very pretty surprise piece of jewellery inside the wax. Maybe greedy but want to try out the other ones. Love that they aren’t tested on animals and have no nasty chemicals hidden in their ingredients.

Of course, if you follow my instagram, you will have seen many succulents in different forms on there. One thing I really need to try out is a mini terrarium like this one from Urban Outfitters ( 3 ). They look really cool on a desk or window sill.

I have such a strong fascination with flamingoes and snow globes – so naturally kind of fancy this pretty glass ornament from John Lewis ( 4 ) – especially as she’s wearing a crown. It’s really pretty, don’t you think ?

I recently wrote a blog post for Burleigh Pottery, giving some ideas on mixing and matching their china at Christmas time. If you fancy a read – you can here. Isn’t their Asiatic Pheasant set ( 5 ) gorgeous ? Really nice for a tea party or even to serve some mulled wine in a quirky way to your guests.

For ages, I have been eyeing up these Hay Phi gold carbon Scissors from Nest Store ( 7 ). The shape is lovely  – and a really stylish way to wrap up gifts. Might have to treat myself !

The brush letter pot is by Pentreath & Hall ( 8 ) . I have a different colour way with an L on the front but they’re quite addictive and fun.

Have you noticed that there’s loads of pinks and greens ? Seem really drawn to this combination at the moment  – you will see more on my living room tour blog hop next week .. all will be revealed on Tuesday at 11 am.

Hope you like my selection – you can check out any of them by clicking on the links under the wishlists.

Is there anything that has caught your eye here ?

Loving Skincare Products By Liha – A Giveaway For My Readers

liha-products-on-giveaway

Over the years I must have tried out dozens of skincare ranges, mainly natural as I like to know and understand what’s in each product. It’s important that it smells nice and most importantly does the job.

A little while ago I tried out Idan Oil by Liha when I was pottering around Liberty London. I rubbed in to my hands and then spent the rest of the day really enjoying the tuberose and coconut aroma – and also noticed that my hands were noticeably smoother. ‘ Idan ‘ means magic in Yoruba ( in Africa ) and I can see why it has been named this. It’s true.

tuberose-flower

One tuberose flower has been immersed in the oil using a traditional African process called enfleurage. When the bottle of oil is placed under warm water, the coconut pressed coconut becomes fluid enabling you to use the combination as an indulgent body lotion,  leave in hair conditioner or even a perfume.

I’m a big fan of anything with coconut in, with all the health benefits it offers and if you’ve ever smelt tuberose – you might agree with me that it’s really feminine and gives a sense of warmth. The two fragrances together – heavenly. Now I have a full bottle here at home that I use every day on my hands and feet before bedtime and after baths.

shea-butter-by-liha
liha-shea-butter

Also from their ranges I have Liha’s Shea Butter and Ose Gidi Soap. The Shea Butter is an intense hand crafted moisturiser that can be used neat or as a base to make up your own cream. It has naturally occurring content of vitamin A and E and is known as a ‘ cure all ‘ formula. It melts between your hands and can be applied like the oil, all over.

liha-soap

I highly recommend the Ose Gidi soap – it is exfoliating and has deep cleansing properties. The formulation is vegan and contains hemp oil, coconut and shea butter and has healing and anti – inflammatory and anti –  oxidant qualities due to the Moringa powder and vitamin E.

Do have a look at Liha’s website to find out more about each product and all that they do. I’m so glad I have discovered them. Liha and Abi who are the founders have been friends for a very long time and created this brand after they’d had many rave reviews from friends and guests who had sampled out their trial pots when they were toying with the idea of starting up as a business. As well as having their own website they are now also stocking at many high profile stores. Amazing how a brand can take off so quickly when they get it just right.

My Favourite Sale Finds

December 27th post

Did you have a good Christmas day ? I hope it was relaxing for you.

We had a great time and my daughters loved every minute, which was the main thing.

Now that we’re past Boxing Day, which is traditionally when the sales start, I have made up a little online wish list .. things that I have my eye on. It’s nice to sit in the comfort of your home and peruse all the goodies, instead of queueing up in shops and being elbowed. Just can’t do it ! Here are 10 of my favourites …

1. Pip Studio produce endless beautiful things, I was quite pleased to see these reduced. Their Love Birds range is very simple but quite decadent looking with its gold edging. It’s now £70 for this set.

2. Markus Lupfer does Gummy Bears. It’s nice to see a range that is more affordable  – and even more so in the sale. This jumper is from Matches Fashion and is now £105.

3. Love, love, love Green & Spring. Everything they do, because it always smells divine with lots of natural ingredients. Asos are selling this hand wash set now for £29.

4. I did a giveaway with Mia Fleur a while back because they stock such tasteful products that I wanted to share with my readers. A pair of these Glass Bird Jars are £18.95. Very pretty !

5. Never one to miss a pair of Converse, I know I already have the Wonder Woman ones from last year but these are the white and gold version. Totally different :) .. Now £39.99 from Schuh.

6. This Starburst retro style clock reminds me of my childhood. I’m pretty sure my Nana had one similar in her living room. For that reason alone – It makes me happy. Do you like it ? It’s currently in the sale at Heals and is £96.

7. Another retro style piece. Graham and Green do vintage styles very well, don’t they ? I particularly like the colour of this bedside table. I can picture this with a bunch of flowers on and an old style alarm clock. It’s down to £139.

8. Slightly nerdy when it comes to Double Decker buses. Especially the old style ones. Would wear this dress with some sneakers. Cath Kidston £40.

9. Can’t beat a floral scented candle  – especially when it’s half price. Space NK have a great sale on .. this Wild Iris one is from their own brand and it’s £15. Ooh !

10. Absolutely adore the playfulness of this Essenza Gitte duvet set. So colourful. Again half price – the single starts at £25. From Amara.

That’s my top ten. Is there anything out there that you have designs on ? Leave me a comment or tweet me @lucylovesysblog  ..

Have a nice day.
