How I Brightened Up My Design Room

How is your day going so far ? Good, I hope. I’m writing today about how I brightened up my Design Room.

Do you fancy a little tour around – now that it’s freshly painted and has a few new pieces added ? It makes such a difference, having it all a little more organised. I’ve found since having children that there’s enough toy chaos in our home without me adding more so I’ve stripped it back a bit in here.

To start with – the walls have been lightened even more with a Farrow & Ball paint called All White. What I like about it is that it’s so pure in colour with no other pigment added so it instantly makes all the colour around stand out. Honestly, we have only gone a few shades whiter but it feels much brighter now.

My technical drawing board sits on the design table now , which is still one of most favourite things in the house ( and one of the heaviest ! ) . Not only do I use the room for making things, it doubles up as somewhere to sit and come up with interior design ideas now.

I painted the fabric cupboard Dayroom Yellow which is also Farrow & Ball. What do you think ? I love that it’s a strong colour but also blends very well with its surroundings. Perfect for the room to add the sunshine that we don’t always get in here. Having said that, it’s beautiful out there today.

Inside, I painted it All White again but with their interior wood paint. The textiles and the patterns jump right out with the white as a backdrop. Really pleased overall with the whole look.

A few new prints on the walls ( flamingos in one of course … ) along with some more succulents and planters. Honestly, is there a plant addict anonymous helpline ?  Think I might need it .. help !

Books - Lucy Loves Ya

Inspiration books under the design table have been tidied and organised. Much easier on the eye ! They just might even be colour co – ordinated.

The striped rug has most definitely added some more colour and fun to the floor and it’s so lovely and soft. It’s from RugstoreNE and is by Brink & Campman.

Vinyl Framed - Lucy Loves Ya-1

You may have noticed here on my blog that I really  love music and  especially records with cool artwork on the covers. Long live vinyl .. thats what I say ! I’ve popped several of our favourite albums in to some frames. It was a tough choice choosing but they can always be updated.

The pegboard is so handy for washi tapes and notes – not they I ever get a chance to use these things, with two daughters in the house … :)

My sewing machines are, well, still the same so I don’t need to show you them but I hope you’ve enjoyed being shown around. You can see a few more images on my instagram if you fancy having a look.

I’d love to know what you think of the room ? Do you like it white and light ? As ever, you can leave me a comment under this post or you can tweet me @lucylovesyablog.

Have a good one.

The paint was sent to me by Farrow & Ball, as was the rug from RugStoreNE – all opinion, are my own.
